In some parts of the world, hockey training starts early. The goal is to imbue players with the necessary skill and gamesmanship capable of taking them from amateur play to the upper echelons of the professional hockey world. As a result, these small towns and communities routinely produce some of the greatest players in the world, as illustrated by the accompanying infographic.
Because hockey is a sport like no other, players must be cut from a different cloth. This requires the decades of training both on and off the ice, as well as a dogged devotion to a sport so beloved by so many. To this end, it sometimes takes an entire community to create a great hockey player.
